The Fire Mountain GIS will make improvements on the current maps and camp inventory. The GIS will combine data in one location, in digital format, that will be easily accessible to camp managers. Another benefit of the GIS will be quick and easy map compilation and creation by the Mt. Baker Council. Additionally, all the data within the GIS is spatially referenced, and has a high level of positional accuracy, thanks to GPS technology. Finally, the GIS provides accurate information on location of features, and easily manageable databases.
We have included some sample maps that can be created using the GIS we developed. C.K. Eidem asked for a map of the Camp Management Units, as well as a USGS type map for visitors. We also used 3D Analyst and the USGS Sedro-Woolley Quad DEM to create some 3D visualisations of the camp. |
