This GIS and the information contained within it will aid in the management decisions for Fire Mountain Scout Camp. This project included database development and data inventory, creation of multiple themes and features, creation of metadata, as well as performing analysis for proposed drain fields locations, outhouse locations, and suitable building sites as they relate to the locations of wetlands and other physical features on the landscape. Our intention for the completed form of this GIS, is to provide a fully functioning Geographic Information System for the Fire Mountain Bay Scout Camp.
We feel we met with our initial objectives, and we are excited to provide this tool to the Fire Mountain Scout Camp. |

Limitations: Through the duration of this project we experienced some limitations. The primary limitations experienced during the project were: availability of existing data sources, determining what coverages to create and include in the project, data accuracy and databases, and time. Most of the data used in this project was created through field visits using GPS technology. The need for collecting primary data resulted from the lack of available data and data sets. Overall, most of the data sources were only available in paper format, and those in digital form had poorly developed data sets and the data had many inaccuracies. The limitations for theme and coverage creation were determining what themes to create and when to stop creating new themes and data sets. Time was a limitation because greater amounts of data could be created, as well as more analysis performed had we more time to work on this project. |
