Introduction

Our mission is to create a working GIS for the Fire Mountain Scout Camp. This exercise will acquaint us with the tasks and processes required for the development of a GIS database. The project will function as an extension to the Fire Mountain Forest Stewardship Plan. The creation of the GIS will involve using inventories from the Stewardship Plan, as well as data we collect from the council, in the field, from other agencies and from data clearinghouses. This project will seek to create a spatially referenced inventory of the camp, which will serve as a management tool for the Fire Mountain Scout Camp. The GIS will also allow the Council to create a wide variety of reference and thematic maps for a wide variety of uses.
