I’ve meant to post some of the pictures from my new phone. They’re nothing great, and in fact, the mere sight of it (the phone) seems to send people’s faces into weird contortions.

Camping, Labor Day
This weekend was another of our biannual first floor camping trips. Scott has been designated with the chore of finding a place the the fewest people complain about getting to. I think he’s done a fine job, especially given the strain our group can put on a small area. We camped at Ipsut Creek on the Carbon River just a bit NW of Mount Rainier. It was a nice place, and was quite fun. Michelle, Sarah, the dogs, and I only stayed one night, which felt a little weird, but had the advantage of allowing her to do school work, and I home work (work at/on/around the home). I’ll be interested to see other people’s pictures of the campout. Its such a departure from what I grew up with. It was …. memorable.
Tour de Fat
New Belgium (the brewery) sponsored a crazy bike festival & alternative transportation fund raiser in Portland today. They’ve been doing them all over the country, but this was the first I’d heard of it here. With Michelle out of town, rode on over. What a sight to behold.
There was a stage on which bands of varying talent played. There were bikes welded together from miscellaneous bikes and other things that might have been lying around the scrap yard. (See Here for samples) And these bikes were available to ride.
While there I spent several hours riding around the park on tall bikes (made by stretching a bike vertically, or simply welding one on top of another), lawn mower bikes, razor scooter bikes, hinged-bikes (my favorite – the back end swung freely from the front, so you could ride beside your front tire if you felt like it. ), Choppers, Cruisers, trikes, and other contraptions that defy description.
It was a blast to ride these things around. Once I finished and got back on my bike, I was quite disoriented. I wish Andrew could have been there, it reminded me of the crap we used to do in middle/high school.
Oh, and the beer was good. Then I had to shower and make a quick trip north to see Alan’s new place. Wonderful place, and cool people. First time meeting most of these people in a social setting rather than work, but it was very nice.
Lunge, Deck
Yesterday we took Barley to Hagg Lake for a swim. He’s lost all reluctance about lunging after the ball, as you can see.
I’ve also uploaded pictures of the place with the new deck, carpet, and a few shots from last weekend’s Oregon Brewers Festival.
4th of July pictures
Ok, I finally finished naming all the pictures from the 4th of July weekend. Don’t laugh, I finished it before my ankle healed, so at least my priorities are straight. :)
Thanks again to Joe’s dad Pat, who was a gracious host, and probably couldn’t have imagined how events would unfold. It was a beautiful place, and always good to see everyone again.
I finally purchased BetterHTML Export for iPhoto, but none of you would understand. So the pictures should keep coming.
Nebraska Pictures
I’ve added my Nebraska pictures, though most won’t be of intrest to anyone. While going through the pictures, I realized how many odd names my cousins have. Sorry if I mispelled yours.
Happy Easter, Say hello to Porter
Happy Easter! Also, I have pictures of Scott & Sarah’s new dog, Porter. He was adopted last weekend, but I didn’t post anything becaues I didn’t have the pictures yet. They’re online now though. |
Blackberry rule
It’s been a while since I’ve done much offroad riding, but I didn’t think I’d forgotten simple rules like “When riding across a grass field, don’t fall into the only blackberry bush around.” |
Staircase 2003
At Chris’s demand, I’ve uploaded my camping pictures. There aren’t that many this year. I was tired or something.
P.S. – I’ve also added Scott’s Images, since he was there longer.
Netarts Weekend
Michelle, Scott, Sarah, the dogs, and I all spent the weekend on the beach in Netarts, OR. It was a great time, and nothing erases stress like waves lapping at the beach. We stayed at the mouth of Netarts bay, so we were able to watch the constant eb & flow of the tide as it filled and drained out of the Bay. I didn’t get much of a chance to read, but we did manage to walk on the beach, hit rocks, throw sticks for the dogs, kayak across the bay, cook, eat, play games, look at stuff, and burn some cookies.
It was a lot of fun, and I’ve put some pictures in the gallery.
