Our new neighbors, the Finches

We have new neighbors!
A pair of goldfinches at the bird feeder

One or two pairs of Goldfinches have taken up residence in our birch tree. I couldn’t be more ecstatic. Their singing is wonderful, and the flash of color as they flit down to the window feeder is always exciting.
After deciding the risk wasn\'t too great, the finch continued to eat.

  1. Nice pics! I had a whole flock of these hanging off of our sweetgums the other day, eating whatever’s inside the balls.

And re: your hummingbirds from the beach, you should definitely put up a feeder. We’ve got a bunch of roufi (sp) and annas and more. Some stay year round. Ella would love it.

  2. That’s a nice looking feeder. We have one of those regular thistle seed ones, but the goldfinches seem to actually prefer our lilac bushes.
