Michelle, Barley and I walked around the Richmond neighborhood today for some variety. The walk was less for Barley and more for our enjoyment and education as its one of the areas we think we could someday afford to live. The neighborhood seemed really like a nice fit, and having Hedge House to the south, Bagdad Theater, Bridgeport Ale House, and Horse Brass to the north make it seem all the better. Anyway, that’s a ways off, so we just had lunch at Hedge House with Barley then came home.

Oh yes, a very good neighborhood indeed.
Of course, I’m a bit biased living just north of Richmond on the other side of Hawthorne.
If you like meth, you’ll love SE.
Sure, inner NE is a little more expensive, but if you can afford a sleeping bag and a shopping cart, you’re all set.
Barley will complete the picture, as all the homeless kids have pets they can’t care for properly.
Funny you mention the dog. We saw a “transient” the other day with a puppy. Michelle felt immediately worse for them because of the puppy. I felt annoyed for the same reason you mentioned and said something similar to Michelle. Michelle said there is no way she’d be homeless without a companion like a dog, and its not like Barley doesn’t get about half of her food anyway. She’s got a point.
I’m a Richmond Kid. Went to Richmond Grade School. Grew up on 45th and Clay. Then moved up to 45th and Yamhill. Was a great area to live in. And your boss lives in the laurelhurst area…
