Procedure Library for Winzip.
The purpose of this procedure
library is to cover my back in case a procedure library for using winzip is
needed, which is silly because its been a standard tool for windows users for a
decade.
Prepared by Andy Freed
(freed@cc.wwu.edu) on March 4, 2001.Required: WinZip application for Windows.
Procedure:
1. Locate a file that has been compressed.
Winzip can recognize most file compression types, but is most often associated
with .zip suffixes.
2. Right click on the file, and pop-up menu
will appear that gives you the option to unzip the file, or unzip it to a
folder in the directory that you are currently working in. Select “unzip
to D:\temp\ or whatever the file location is.
3. If you are using gunzip (GZ) or TAR
files, first open the winzip application to change some of the decompression
settings. Ignoring this step will prevent ArcInfo from correctly processing
your data.
4. Winzip can be located at
Start>Programs>WinZip.
5. Click “I Agree”.
6. Select Configuration from the Options
menu.
7. Uncheck the option for TAR file smart
CR/LF conversion. Click OK.
8. Now repeat the first two steps.
